If you have self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funding, we encourage you to have a conversation with your NDIS support coordinator. They can guide you on if and how to utilise your funding to achieve your goals through sports and community participation.
Abilities Unlimited Australia (AUA) offers programs that align with these objectives and can provide you with the necessary information to make informed decisions.
If your NDIS funding is NDIA-managed, it's important to note that you can only use NDIS-registered providers to access services. We recommend speaking to your provider about the possibility of joining AUA programs. They can explore options to facilitate your participation in our inclusive programs.
At AUA, we are committed to empowering individuals with disabilities through sports and community engagement. We strive to make our programs accessible to all, and NDIS funding may be a valuable resource to help you or your loved ones actively participate in our inclusive activities.

At Abilities Unlimited Australia (AUA), our term fee structure is designed to cover the entire term duration, providing continuous support and resources for our participants. It is important to note that our fees are not charged per individual lesson. As a result, we are unable to offer refunds for missed lessons.
When a child is unable to attend lessons, their term fees will still apply. However, we understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we appreciate prior notice when possible. If a child misses three or more lessons within a single term without prior notice of their intention to be absent, their allocated lesson slots may be reallocated to another child on our waiting list.
We acknowledge the commitment and dedication of our staff who are prepared to support and guide each participant, whether they are present or not. By upholding this policy, we ensure fairness and equal opportunities for all individuals in our programs.
We encourage open communication between our team and participants or their parents/guardians regarding any expected absences or schedule changes. This helps us effectively manage our resources and accommodate other children who may be waiting to join our programs.
Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any specific concerns or questions regarding attendance and our term fee policy. We are here to provide assistance and support to ensure the best possible experience for everyone involved.

At Abilities Unlimited Australia (AUA), we are committed to the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to participate in our programs. We understand that financial constraints can sometimes pose a challenge, and we want to ensure that no child misses out on the benefits of our inclusive sports and active recreation programs.
To support families and individuals facing financial vulnerability, AUA offers a scholarship program. Our scholarship program aims to provide assistance to those who may otherwise be unable to access our programs due to financial limitations. We encourage anyone facing financial difficulties to explore the scholarship program and consider applying. Our team carefully reviews each application and assesses it on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the unique circumstances and needs of the individual. The goal of our scholarship program is to create opportunities for inclusion and ensure that financial barriers do not hinder a child's ability to participate in our activities.

At Abilities Unlimited Australia (AUA), the safety, well-being, and empowerment of every child is our unwavering commitment. To reinforce our dedication to providing a secure and supportive environment, we have a strict and non-negotiable policy regarding parent or carer attendance in our programs.
We require that a parent or carer be physically present on-site and in close proximity at ALL times during our programs. This means you must remain on the premises throughout the entire duration of the program—no exceptions. It is essential that parents or carers do not leave during the program.
Why is parent or carer attendance so crucial?
We firmly believe that the presence of a parent or carer is an integral part of creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive space for all participants. Your watchful eye and active involvement ensure that your child receives the utmost care, supervision, and support they need to thrive.
While we understand that this may require adjustments to your schedule and personal commitments, we cannot compromise on the duty of care we owe to every child. Your presence guarantees immediate attention and fosters a sense of security, enabling your child to fully engage in the activities and make the most of their experience with us.
We want to emphasise that your active participation is not only welcomed but strongly encouraged. While it is not mandatory, we wholeheartedly invite you to join your child in the program's activities, including getting in the pool or riding a bike together. By actively participating, you foster a deeper connection with your child, promote consistency in practice, and create lasting memories of shared achievements.
We acknowledge and appreciate the vital role parents and carers play in their child's development. Your unwavering presence reinforces our commitment to collaboration, as we work together to empower your child's progress and ensure a positive and transformative experience at AUA.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your understanding, cooperation, and commitment to upholding this requirement. By adhering to this policy, we create an environment where each child feels safe, supported, and valued while fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility among our AUA community.
Together, let us stand strong in our dedication to safeguarding the well-being and empowerment of every child. Your presence is not just a requirement; it is an essential cornerstone of our commitment to excellence and inclusivity at AUA.

At Abilities Unlimited Australia (AUA), we believe in creating a nurturing and empowering environment for every child in our programs. As a parent or carer, your involvement and support play a crucial role in helping your child make the most of their experience with us. Here are some valuable tips to assist you in supporting your child each week:
Arrive Early: To help ease any anxiety, we recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before the session starts. This allows time for sign-in, getting a name tag, and connecting with your child's instructor. It's a perfect opportunity for your child to become familiar with their surroundings and feel more at ease.
Be Prepared: Prior to the session, ensure your child has had a snack, a drink of water, and visited the restroom. Being well-prepared physically sets the stage for a smooth and uninterrupted session.
Attend Regularly: Every session is important for your child's progress. We encourage you to make an effort to attend all sessions, as consistent participation helps build confidence and enhances their learning experience.
Dress Appropriately: It's essential that your child is dressed appropriately for the program. Open-toe shoes are not permitted, and baggy pants, long skirts, or dresses can pose safety hazards. Remember to bring a helmet and the necessary equipment, such as a bike or skateboard for Cyclabilities or Shredabilities, and ensure your child wears bright-coloured swimmers for Waterabilities.
Rest and Nourishment: Adequate sleep and nourishment are vital for your child's energy levels during the program. Make sure they have had enough rest and a nutritious meal, as they will be actively engaged in the activities.
Introduce New Activities Mindfully: To prevent overwhelming your child with too many new skills, we recommend avoiding the introduction of additional activities outside of the program. Learning to ride a bike, skateboard, or swim involves motor planning and processing, so focusing on the program's activities is beneficial.
Discuss and Set Goals: Engage your child in conversations about each session's activities. Encourage them to share their experiences and help set goals for the next session. This not only promotes reflection but also empowers your child to take ownership of their progress.
Rewards and Incentives: Discuss both immediate and long-term rewards with your child. Feel free to share ideas with our instructors to support their learning journey. Rewards can serve as motivation and recognition for their efforts and achievements.
On-Site Presence: It is mandatory for a parent or carer to remain on-site during the program, have the child in sight and maintain a duty of care for their child at all times when on the site. This ensures that in case of an emergency, you are readily available to offer support to your child. Moreover, witnessing their progress firsthand is an incredible experience that you won't want to miss.
Celebrate Achievements: Learning AUA program skills is a significant achievement for your child. Capture these moments by taking photos and sharing them with friends and family. You are also welcome to share them on our Facebook page. Consider inviting family members to join in the celebration of your child's accomplishments.
We truly value your active involvement and support in your child's journey at AUA. By following these guidelines and fostering a positive and engaging environment at home, together we can empower your child to thrive and shine in our programs. Let's celebrate their growth and accomplishments every step of the way!

At Abilities Unlimited Australia (AUA), the safety and well-being of our participants is our utmost priority. To ensure a secure and inclusive environment, we have specific safety equipment and clothing requirements for our programs. Please review the following guidelines:
General Safety Requirements for All Programs:
Enclosed Shoes: Participants must wear closed-toe shoes during all AUA programs. This helps protect their feet and provides stability and support during physical activities.
Appropriate Clothing: It is important for participants to wear clothing that is not loose or baggy. This helps prevent any potential hazards or entanglements during the program. Comfortable and flexible clothing is recommended to allow for freedom of movement.
Water Bottle: Hydration is essential, so please ensure your child brings a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the program. It's important to provide them with regular water breaks to maintain their energy levels.
Additional Clothing and Safety Gear Requirements:
Cyclabilities:
Helmet: For Cyclabilities, participants must wear a helmet to ensure their safety while riding a bike. If you don't have a helmet, please let us know in advance so that AUA can provide one for your child.
Bike: Participants are encouraged to bring their own bike to the program. If you don't have a bike, please inform us, and we will make the necessary arrangements to provide one for your child.
Shredabilities:
Helmet: Safety is paramount during Shredabilities, and participants must wear a helmet to protect their head while skateboarding. It is a vital piece of safety equipment for this program.
Wrist Pads: Wrist pads are required for participants during Shredabilities. They provide added protection to the wrists while skateboarding.
Skateboard: Participants are encouraged to bring their own skateboard for the program. If you don't have one, please let us know, and we will ensure that AUA provides one for your child.
Waterabilities:
BRIGHT Coloured Swimmers: Participants in Waterabilities are required to wear brightly coloured swimmers. This enhances visibility and ensures easy identification during water-based activities. Boys are encouraged to wear a rash vest as an additional protective layer.
Swim Nappy: If your child is using the toilet consistently, please ensure they wear a swim nappy to maintain cleanliness and hygiene during water activities.
Towel: It is essential for participants to bring a towel to dry off after water-based activities. Having a towel readily available helps ensure their comfort and well-being.
By adhering to these safety and clothing requirements, we can create a secure and enjoyable environment for all participants in our programs. If you have any specific concerns or requirements, please don't hesitate to communicate with us. We are here to support you and your child's experience at AUA.

AUA understands the importance of consistency in staffing, especially when working with children with additional needs.
Within each of our programs, we aim to keep instructors consistent wherever possible. This means the team that delivers Shredabilities Level One, will be the same team delivering Shredabilities Level Two.
When instructors are away on leave or unwell, there can sometimes be a few new faces, but we try to limit this where possible.
